What can a digital camera to an ordinary point and can not be drawn?

I can not afford a digital SLR, then I believe that the technologies to get a digital camera. What can a digital camera this peak is similar to a digital SLR? What can a camera regular digital point and shoot digital can not? Thanks in advance.
