which is better? non-stick mat or carpet tape on the carpet?

I have hardwood floors. What could be more convenient? and anti-adhesion under rugs really work?

Double-sided tape will ruin your floors. Felt and rubber padding will keep the rug in place, and that does not conform will make the carpet softer. It is much more expensive than a simple filling slip but will protect the soil and it feels good.
