How to insert a memory card into the Blackberry Pearl 8130?

I just bought a press card today for my BlackBerry Pearl. I put in the little groove and I get an error saying the memory card is inserted that contains errors and told me to use error checking disk utility. How do I with it what it is able to work? does not stop and you go .. seems every time.
